I started my project on the first of this new year, (Jan. 1st, 2012). And so far, I can tell you, it's actually been quite easy. Hopefully I'll stick with it, usually, and sadly enough, I can't ever stick with anything. I'm a quitter. It's what I am, and what I do. But hopefully this project will change all of that.
The reasons WHY I've begun this project.
1.I have been depressed since I was about 11 or 12, and I haven't felt in a very, very long time what it feels like to be truly happy. And I've just been settling with just feeling "okay".
2.I have struggled with my weight and self-esteem my entire 21 years of existence.
3.I have realized that I depend too much on people, food, and technology.
4.I have realized that in order to look good, I must first feel good. And I have been trying to feel good in all the wrong ways.
5.I need to be, wish to be, and really want to be a better person in so many different areas, for so many different reasons.
So those are the reasons why.
Now, here are the things I am doing and not doing for 355 more days (and have already started/quit for the first ten days).
1. Cut out sodas completely.
2.(Try my best to) Cut out high fructose corn syrup.
3. (Try my best to) Cut out all dairy. (I'm lactose intolerant)
4. Read through my Bible in a year.
5. Go without my phone, internet, and television for a whole month)
6. Get in AT LEAST ten minutes of exercise a day.
7. Cut out fast food to once a week or less.
8. Write at least a page in my prayer journal a day.
9. Compliment at least 3 people a day.
10. Eat a lot more fruits and vegetables.
Now, for the things I said "Try my best to", I wrote that because I've already, on more than one occasion, have consumed such things. It's so hard to find things without hfcs, and I sometimes forget to look. And with the dairy thing, I ate a cheesecake because I deserved it. And if the cheese or chocolate doesn't give me pain, I eat it and enjoy it. I haven't, though, had cow milk since early May of 2011. So that is good.
And I have you know, so far this year I have lost 7 pounds! So excited!
It's not really a goal to lose weight, but to just become healthy and happy. But losing weight is going to happen with this new lifestyle, so it's just a bonus.
I'll share my feelings, successes, what I did, what I ate, what tempted me, if I overcome that temptation. Everything. So get ready.
Let's see where this leads us.
I wonder how I will feel when the project is over December 31st, 2012.
Hmm..

Cool beans, Karianne! Good luck! Or should I say I'm praying for you? Which I just did. Have fun, too.
